Under the "Meaningful Meetings" initiative, the Association of Honorary Consuls in Bulgaria (AHCB) held a meeting with H.E. Hisashi Michigami, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to the Republic of Bulgaria.
Ambassador Michigami has been in Bulgaria since November 2023 and is very active in the development of the business and cultural relations.
The meeting was held in a frank and friendly atmosphere, with a special presentation held by the Ambassador, highlighting the importance of school as the place where tolerance, creativity and curiosity is cultivated to further bring true understanding of democracy, as well as multiple science awards, innovative technologies, vibrant culture and sports achievements. Discussed where the challenges facing Bulgaria and the prospects for development of the bilateral relations. Broader relations with the European Union, the USA, Turkey, Russia, China and Africa were discussed. Bulgaria and Japan have a long-standing and stable economic relationship and very good relationship between the people. Areas that have potential for development and main obstacles to FDI and companies from Japanentering the Bulgarian market were discussed, as to return to the levels from before 15-20 years.
