Under the "Meaningful Meetings" initiative, the Association of Honorary Consuls in Bulgaria (AHCB) held a meeting with His Excellency Frédéric Meurice, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Kingdom of Belgium in Sofia to the Republic of Bulgaria.
Ambassador Meurice has been in Bulgaria since September 2020 and is very active in the development of business and cultural relations.
The meeting was held in a frank and friendly atmosphere, about the challenges facing Bulgaria and the prospects for development in bilateral relations. Ambassador Meurice presented the priorities for the Belgian Presidency of the Council of the EU: 1 January - 30 June 2024. Broader relations with the European Union, the USA, Turkey, Russia, China and Africa were discussed. Bulgaria and Belgium have a stable long-standing economic relationship and areas that have potential for development and main obstacles to FDI in Bulgaria were discussed.
