At the meeting initiated by the Hon Consuls Association in Bulgaria Ambassador Giuseppina Zarra, accompanied by Mr. Francesco Calderoli, Deputy Head of Mission, Counsellor and Commercial Officer to the Embassy, discussed with the members in friendly and in-depth matter the situation in Bulgaria, perspectives and possibilities. Topics ranged from Bulgaria’s Schengen acceptance to the hot topics in the region, as well as the wider relations between Italy, the EU and the world. Bulgaria and Italy have stable long-term diplomatic relations and growing economic ties. Areas that have potential for growth are energy, food security, IT and telecommunications. In the field of tourism, Bulgaria needs to promote more mountain and rural tourism, cultural and natural experiences.
