On the initiative "Meaningful Meetings", the Association of Honorary Consuls in Bulgaria held a lunch meeting with guest HE Kristiina Kuvaja-Xanthopoulos, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Republic of Finland to Republic of Bulgaria.
The hot events in the region, the evolving conflict in Ukraine, Finland's application to join NATO as well as the wider relations between Finland and the world were discussed. Bulgaria and Finland have stable long-term diplomatic relations and growing economic ties. Areas that have potential for growth are information technology and telecommunications, agricultural products, food products and in the energy sector. In the field of tourism, Finns are looking for a closer connection with nature and experiences, for which Bulgaria needs to promote more mountain and rural tourism, cultural and natural experiences.
