Special guest to the “Meaningful Meetings” initiative of the Association of Honorary Consuls in Bulgaria was H.E. Maciej Szymanski, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Poland to the Republic of Bulgaria.
Discussed were pressing subjects of the day in world foreign policy and hot topics for Bulgaria, the Balkan region and European Union. Ambassador Szymanski gave a very interesting historic overview of the region and Poland’s factors for a successful economic development. The bilateral relations were discussed as not well developed, in comparison to neighbouring Romania, and in that context, the necessity of more economical integration in the axis North/South in Europe. Opportunities lay in the agro-industry, food and wine industry, IT and smart manufacturing.
Demographics, the EU Green Deal and mobile pact were discussed, as well as economic development based on stringent law mechanisms.
Ambassador Szymanski is head of mission in Bulgaria since June 2019 year.
